I need your help on the rack!
I am using 1in PVC pipe instead of fence post with 1in fittings. I've used a dremal on the T's and cut then with a saw. The hose clamps work great when clamped only on one piece of pipe but with pipe on both parts of the T it can slide. Any ideas of how I can fix this. Could the problem be caused by using PVC pipe instead of fence post? I also try to tighen the clamp even more but it jumps off track and wont tighten ant more. PLEASE HELP
thanks

Also I have developed a cheap way to make good looking e-cymbals by using records heating them up and forming them on a real cymbal. add some rubber, a censor and make the hole a little bigger your done. I'm making the drums out of tunable hand drums and adding mesh heads. I've got 4 10in ones for toms, 1 12in for a snare and an 8in Remo practice pad for the bass.

Not sure exactly, try cutting your slot a little wider so that it can clamp down tighter. You might also try not removing as much of the hump inside of the "T". I think the fence post ran a little tighter than the pvc. One more thing you may try, is putting three hose clamps per fitting. I know that can add to the cost in a hurry though. I had to play with several pieces before I got the right mixture figured out.

Please post some pics when you are done! 8-)

Thanks I'll try widening the slot tonight, if that doesn't work I might have to buy all new Ts because I already dremled all of them. I also thought I might add that I was able to cut the price down to $45.00 for the rack by using all PVC and allthread rod instead of bolts, using more nuts to secure it.

The problem with the PVC is that it tends to have some flex to it. The galvanized pipe is much more rigid. I have seen a lot of racks made with PVC though. It should be fine.

All-thread is definitely cheaper. I used the bolts because I had them on hand.

I solved the problem! I realized the reason it wasn't clamping good was because the peice of PVC on the side was not allowing it to clamp any tighter. instead making a wider slot a used a dremal to remove some material from the side of the t on the inside reducing the thickness and allowing the clamp to close more.
